Making a placement

We welcome enquiries from families and from professionals — including local authorities and other schools — exploring a placement at Llangattock School Monmouth. Every child is different, so we begin with a conversation to understand their strengths, needs and what will help them thrive.

How a placement usually begins

Most placements start with an informal conversation, followed by a visit to see the school and meet our team. We then take time to understand the child — their history, their needs, and the right pace and shape of a transition — working closely with the family and any professionals already involved. Where a local authority is funding a placement, we liaise directly with them on the arrangements.

What we’ll want to understand

To be sure we are the right setting, it helps to know about the child’s learning and wellbeing needs, any additional learning needs or an EHCP/IDP where one exists, and what has and hasn’t worked before. There is no need to have everything worked out before you get in touch — we can guide you through it.
