About us
The beliefs that shape every day at Llangattock.
Our approach
Llangattock School Monmouth is an independent school and a specialist setting for children who need a nurturing environment with small class sizes and high levels of adult support. Many children arrive with negative associations of school due to anxiety, school refusal or adverse childhood experiences. We provide a bespoke, flexible school experience, built on each child’s strengths and needs.
Wellbeing is at the heart of what we do. All staff work with a trauma-informed approach and an awareness of sensory needs, and we offer a dyslexia-friendly environment. We believe education should enrich lives.
“You can be yourself, but not to the detriment of others” — our one school rule — ensures kindness, compassion, tolerance of differences and respect for others as well as yourself. It underpins our three core aims: Wellbeing, Engagement, Academics. It is our belief that children are naturally curious, and if they feel safe and understood they can blossom.
Our policies are informed by the work of Dr Dan Hughes and Louise Michelle Bomber, who advocate a relational approach to understanding behaviour and educating children. Building trusting relationships enables children to grow — emotionally, socially and academically — and working with the latest research ensures a wholistic experience in which every child can achieve.
A safe, stress-free, non-judgemental environment that celebrates each unique child.
Access to teachers with enthusiasm and expertise in every subject, with stage-based grouping.
We help children gain qualifications suited to their abilities and talents, with high expectations for the future.
